Issue/Introduction

The optical device driver is loaded and then Ghost is called to deploy an image from the media, either CD or DVD, to the IDE / SATA-based hard drive. Ghost produces a Decompression error -3 error when attempting to deploy the image.

Cause

A DOS PreOS cannot interpret all combinations of controllers and hardware. This has occurred on both SATA and non-SATA hardware.

Resolution

Use WinPE (2.x) or Linux PreOS, both of which ships with GSS 2.5 as a workaround. It has been confirmed by development that using a WinPE or Linux PreOS will work.
Improvement for DVD burner compatibility will be considered for future products using the WinPE and Linux tools. The DOS tools will not be updated for newer hardware.

NOTE: Always use the most current release of WinPE and / or Linux PreOS.
