You want to know what to do about the error message you see in Ghost.

Resolution

The following list provides a small sampling of the possible error codes in Ghost.

Ghost has many more error codes than are listed in the table. To find available information on an error code, do not rely on this list. Instead, search this knowledge base for the error number. If the error number is not in the knowledge base, see the following document for a list of solutions that might solve the problem with the error that you have.

8004	The -sure and -batch switches are not allowed in evaluation copies	Using an evaluation copy. To use these switches, purchase Ghost.
8005	You may NOT run GHOST.EXE when the SoftIce debugger \nis loaded remove SoftIce and reboot	To use Ghost, uninstall SoftIce and restart the computer.
8007	Program has timed out or the time-out date is invalid	Using an evaluation copy. Purchase Ghost. Images you created with an evaluation copy can be used with the purchased copy.
8008	Program has timed out	Using an evaluation copy. Purchase Ghost. Images you created with an evaluation copy can be used with the purchased copy.
8012	Ghost cannot access the disk on OS/2. Please boot your \n system into DOS and then run Ghost	Run Ghost under MSDOS.
8013	IB and -ID are not valid switches for partition operations	You used a command line switch to clone a partition, but you also used switches (IB or -ID) that are only for entire disks. Either clone an entire disk, or do not use the IB and -ID switches.
8016	|l must be run in DOS mode to install	Run Ghost under MSDOS
8018	Slave did not receive token from Master	You are using a peer-to-peer connection, but the client computer cannot receive messages from the Master computer. Check your peer-to-peer connection.
8023	Ghost can not run on WindowsNT	You are attempting to run Ghost.exe, GhostPE.exe, or Ghostwrks.exe in a DOS window in Windows NT. Boot the computer to a DOS environment to run Ghost under MSDOS.
8024	This copy of Ghost is not properly licensed. Please contact your dealer with your licence details.	The environment file might be corrupt. Try to obtain a good copy of the environment file. This can also occur if you are using an environment file from a different version of Ghost.
10001	CheckDumpFile: Unknown TransferOption	Check the command line arguments. One of them might be misspelled, or use an option not available. For more information, check the Ghost Knowledge Base for each switch on the command-line.
10002	Cannot bind to DEMO version...	Using an evaluation copy. To apply the Ghost licensing (environment) file, purchase Ghost.

10003	Unable to establish contact with session <>	Check the session name. It should be the same name at the Ghost client and at the Ghost server. The session name is entered at the client computer when you answered the question "Session Name." It is also listed in the Task in Ghost Enterprise Console (in the Name box) or in Ghost Multicast Server (in the Session Name box).
10005	Dump file more than %ld days old	Using an evaluation copy. Recreate the image file or purchase Ghost.
10006	Cannot open spanned file	Your image file consists of a set of two or more separate files. Check the file name and path for the second and subsequent files.
10007	Length of skip name must 256 or less	Check skip name.
10008	Unexpected end of file...	Check connection or media.
10009	Unable to establish contact with session <>	Check the session name. It should be the same name at the Ghost client and at the Ghost server. The session name is entered at the client computer when you answered the question "Session Name." It is also listed in the Task in Ghost Enterprise Console (in the Name box) or in Ghost Multicast Server (in the Session Name box).
10010	Cannot open dump file	You are attempting to create or restore an image file. Check the file name and path.
10012	Unable to establish contact with session <>	Check the session name. It should be the same name at the Ghost client and at the Ghost server. The session name is entered at the client computer when you answered the question "Session Name." It is also listed in the Task in Ghost Enterprise Console (in the Name box) or in Ghost Multicast Server (in the Session Name box).
10013	Cannot open dump file	You are attempting to create or restore an image file. Check the file name and path.
10014	Cannot open	Check file name and path.
10015	IB and -ID are not valid switches for partition operations	You used a command line switch to clone a partition, but you also used switches (IB or -ID) that are only for entire disks. Either clone an entire disk, or do not use the IB and -ID switches.
10016	Unable to establish contact with session <>	Check the session name. It should be the same name at the Ghost client and at the Ghost server. 10017	Cannot open dump file	Check file name and path.
10018	Unable to establish contact with session <>	Check the session name. It should be the same name at the Ghost client and at the Ghost server. The session name is entered at the client computer when you answered the question "Session Name." It is also listed in the Task in Ghost Enterprise Console (in the Name box) or in Ghost Multicast Server (in the Session Name box).
10019	Cannot open	Check file name and path.
10020	Attempting to seek within Plextor dump file	Check the version of Ghost. Make sure the version at the server computer matches the version at the Ghost client computer.
10024	Bad magic	Will usually see error: -99 on the console. Check winpe permissions to the console
10025	Dump Head type expected	Check integrity of image file. See the document How to handle a corrupt image file.
10026	Evaluation copy of Ghost cannot load images made by \n other copies	Using an evaluation copy. To load these images, purchase Ghost.
10026	Evaluation copy of Ghost cannot load images made by other copies	Using an evaluation copy. To load these images, purchase Ghost.
10026	Ghost Works cannot load images made by other copies	Using an evaluation copy. To load these images, purchase Ghost.
10026	Ghost for Help Desk Assistant cannot load images made by other copies	Using an evaluation copy. To load these images, purchase Ghost.
10027	Unknown image format: code : later Ghost version required	You can try to restore an image created with a later version of Ghost than the version of Ghost you are currently running. Use a later version of Ghost. Alternatively, the image file might be corrupted. See the document How to handle a corrupt image file.
10030	Disk is full cannot continue...	Free up some disk space on the destination computer. Also check the Ghost Knowledge Base for this error by searching for the phrase "disk space"
10030	Unable to establish contact with session <>	Check the session name. It should be the same name at the Ghost client and at the Ghost server. The session name is entered at the client computer when you answered the question "Session Name." 10031	Name too long	Check the session name. It should be the same name at the Ghost client and at the Ghost server. The session name is entered at the client computer when you answered the question "Session Name." It is also listed in the Task in Ghost Enterprise Console (in the Name box) or in Ghost Multicast Server (in the Session Name box).
10032	Cannot open	Check file name and path
10033	Out of conventional memory	Free conventional memory by loading DOS and drivers into upper memory
10035	Cannot open next span file	Your image file consists of a set of two or more separate files. Check the file name and path for the second and subsequent files.
10036	Cannot open next span file	Your image file consists of a set of two or more separate files. Check the file name and path for the second and subsequent files.
10037	Cannot open next span file	Your image file consists of a set of two or more separate files. Check the file name and path for the second and subsequent files.
10038	Out of conventional memory	Free conventional memory at the Ghost client by loading DOS and drivers into upper memory. To load DOS into upper memory, use the dos=high,umb command in Config.sys.
