You want to know whether a drive or partition was written over by Ghost.
Ghost executables from Standard tools or Ghost Solution Suite.
Ghost writes a "fingerprint" in unused space on the disk whenever Ghost writes over the contents of the disk or partition.
When the GHOST64.exe -FINGER command is used, Ghost looks at these bytes on each disk to determine what the last Ghost action was.
Here are examples of the display you see when you use the Ghost64.exe -FINGER command:
GHOST (12). Copyright Symantec Ltd
Disk | Last Ghost Action | Date | Time | Clone-ID |
1 | Disk to Disk | 10-08-98 | 19:53 |
*** End of diagnostics ***
and
GHOST (12). Copyright Symantec Ltd
Disk | Last Ghost Action | Date | Time | Clone-ID |
1 | File to Partition | 11-16-98 | 17:21 | 3650a291 |
2 | File to Partition | 11-17-98 | 12:25 | 3533db95 |
*** End of diagnostics ***
Note that the version number displayed at the top of the display is the version of Ghost that is running with the -FINGER switch. It is NOT the version that was used to create the partitions or drives.
