How do I adjust the scanning schedule for my managed clients?

Resolution

Follow the steps below to modify the scan schedule for managed clients from the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM):

Note: If you wish to modify the scan schedule for all clients in the network, follow the steps in Section 1. To modify the scan schedule for all Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) clients in the network, 'Policy inheritance' must be ON for each seperate group in your network. If you wish to only modify the scan schedule for some of the clients, refer to Section 2.

Section 1 - To modify the scan schedule for all clients in the network:
  1. Launch SEPM and select the Policies view on the far left side.
  2. From the View Policies list, click Antivirus and Antispyware.
  3. Ensure the Antivirus and Antispyware policy you want to modify is highlighted in the right pane.
  4. Click Edit the Policy from the list of Tasks to launch the policy editor page for that policy.
  5. Select Administrator-defined Scans and either:
    1. Select a current scan to edit, and then click the Edit button --or--
    2. Click the Add button to create a new scheduled scan.
  6. Under the Schedule tab, modify the schedule to your desired settings, and then click OK.

Section 2 - To modify the scan schedule for one or more client groups:
  1. Launch SEPM and select the Clients view on the far left side
  2. From the View Clients list, select the group that you wish to modify the scan schedule.
  3. Select the Policies tab and ensure that Policy inheritance is OFF.
  4. From the Location-specific Policies, select the Antivirus and Antispyware policy, and then click Edit Shared.
  5. Select Administrator-defined Scans and either:
    1. Select a current scan to edit, and then click the Edit button --or--
    2. Click the Add button to create a new scheduled scan.
  6. Under the Schedule tab, modify the schedule to your desired settings, and then click OK.
