Issue/Introduction

If you configure theGroup Update Provider (GUP) in a LiveUpdate Settings Policy to bypass the GUP after less than 10 minutes, the GUP may not download content updates. This occurs only when the GUP server is offline and Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager notifies the GUP clients that a new content update is available.

Resolution

Symantec is investigating this problem to determine a solution. This document will be updated when new information or a solution is available.

Workaround
To work around this problem, increase the bypass period to 10 minutes or more.

To increase the bypass time period
  1. In the console, click Policies > LiveUpdate, and then add or edit a LiveUpdate Settings Policy.
  2. In the LiveUpdate Policy page, click Server Settings.
  3. On the Server Settings page, check Use the Group Update Provider as the default LiveUpdate server, and then click Group Update Provider.
  4. In the Group Update Provider dialog box, after Bypass Group Update Provider, click After, and then select 10 minutes.
  5. Click OK and then click OK again.
