Issue/Introduction

After renaming a client group in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM), name change is not reflected in the user interface of the SEP client (Help and Support, Troubleshooting, Management).

Symptoms
When a group is renamed in SEPM console, name change is not reflected in the client user interface until the Client Group policy is updated. SEPM/Client communication is not otherwise affected.

Cause

Symantec is aware of this issue and is currently investigating it. Clients continue to receive definition updates, but the Group name will not change in the user interface until the group policy is changed or the clients are moved to a another group.

Resolution

This problem is fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.4000.2295 (MR4). For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, read Obtaining an upgrade or update for Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x or Symantec Network Access Control 11.x.

Also, as a temporary work-around, you can force propagation of the name change by opening the SEPM editor dialog for any of the group policies, then closing it (without making any changes) by clicking OK.
