"LDAP: error code 4 - Sizelimit Exceeded" occurs when importing Active Directory Organizational Unit with more than 1000 clients

Issue/Introduction

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager installed on Windows 2000 Advanced Server imports only 1000 clients from Organizational Unit with more than 1000 clients.

Cause

This message reflects a limitation in Active Directory on Windows 2000 Server.The default maximum number of entries supported is 1000.

Resolution

There are two workarounds available:

• Modify the Active Directory server settings to increase the maximum number.
• Import multiple times. Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Administrator can import the Organizational Unit multiple times, importing 1000 different clients each time.
