Issue/Introduction

Symptoms
While running ADAMSETUP.exe, the installation completes, but the Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) service will not start. The following error message appears: "The service 'ADAM_EndpointEncryption' because of the following error: Error code: 0x8007041d The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

Cause

The ADAM setup program incorrectly set the ADAM service to run as "NT AUTHORITY\LocalService" instead of "Local System Account"

Resolution

Run Services.msc to start the Services control panel.

1. Right-click on the Endpoint Encryption service and click Properties.
2. Click the Logon tab.
3. Select the Local System Account and click OK.
4. Right-click again on the Endpoint Encryption service and select Start.

The ADAM installation will now continue.
