You are trying to restore a file from Symantec Endpoint Protection Quarantine by using the QExtract tool from Tools\NoSupport on the software CD, but you receive an error message.
"Cliscan.dll is not registered"
Cliscan.dll is a required component of the operation and is only found in Symantec AntiVirus version 10.1 and prior. Registering Cliscan.dll on the SEP system and attempting to use Qextract.exe will not work either. You will receive the error message "Extraction failed: target file may already exist."
Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 RU5 and later includes a newer version of QExtract which should run without the DLL error.
Early releases of Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 came with an older version of QExtract; if you receive the DLL error when running QExtract from this release, use the version from a newer version of Endpoint Protection 11.x. One is attached, below.
The Qextract release supplied with SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1 should not encounter the error above.
Attached below is the version of QExtract that is included with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 RU6 MP3.
