Issue/Introduction

The "LiveUpdate" option in the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client GUI is grayed out.  How to configure a policy in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) that allows managed SEP clients to run LiveUpdate?

Resolution

Configure Managed Clients to Run LiveUpdate

  1. Log in to the SEPM Console
  2. In the left pane Click Policies
  3. Select LiveUpdate. Under LiveUpdate you may edit an existing LiveUpdate Policy or edit the default LiveUpdate Settings Policy.
  4. Under LiveUpdate Settings policy right click and select add.
  5. Select Advanced Settings on the left and check the option to Allow the user to manually launch LiveUpdate
  6. Click OK
  7. Assign the policy.
