Symantec Endpoint Encryption 11 will stop encrypting a hard drive upon encountering a bad sector. In order for encryption to completely successfully, bad sectors must be repaired and encryption started again.
Symantec Corporation is committed to product quality and satisfied customers. Support has worked directly with Product Management and has determined this feature will not be included at this time as skipping bad sectors is not generally good practice and could lead to drive issues. NOTE: Symantec Endpoint Encryption 11.1.2 will report the reason for a paused disk status as a bad sector for ease of management.
