Resolution

This article provides information about installing and upgrading from an older version to v6.6 MP1 of Symantec™ Data Center Security: Server Advanced. This information is also applicable for Symantec™ Data Center Security: Server and Symantec™ Data Center Security: Monitoring Edition.

Depending on the type of installation, perform the following steps as per the given sequence.

Note: Upgrade to the Unified Management Console (UMC) v6.6 MP1 and Operations Director v6.6 MP1 is supported only from UMC v6.6 and Operations Director v6.6 through LiveUpdate. If you do not have Internet access in your environment, you can also set up a LiveUpdate Administrator to use instead of the Symantec LiveUpdate server. Additionally, Management Server v6.6 MP1 is supported only on a 64 bit Windows Server operating system.

Steps	First-time installation of v6.6 MP1	Upgrading from v6.6 to v6.6 MP1	Upgrading from a version prior to v6.6
Step 1	Deploy the UMC v6.6 OVA that is available in the DCS: Server Advanced v6.6 MP1 disc.	Upgrade UMC v6.6 to UMC v6.6 MP1 through LiveUpdate.	Upgrade UMC to UMC v6.6.
Step 2	Deploy the Operations Director v6.6 OVA that is available in the DCS: Server Advanced v6.6 MP1 disc.	Upgrade Operations Director v6.6 to Operations Director v6.6 MP1 through LiveUpdate.	Upgrade Operations Director to Operations Director v6.6.
Step 3	Register the Operations Director v6.6 with UMC v6.6.	Upgrade the Management Server v6.6 to Management Server v6.6 MP1. Back up the database before you upgrade the Management Server.	Register Operations Director v6.6 with UMC v6.6.
Step 4	Upgrade to UMC v6.6 MP1 through LiveUpdate.	Upgrade the Java console. Click the console.exe file that is available on DCS: Server Advanced v6.6 MP1 disc.	Upgrade to UMC v6.6 MP1 through LiveUpdate.
Step 5	Upgrade to Operations Director v6.6 MP1 through LiveUpdate.	Deploy and configure the DCS Security Virtual Appliance.	Upgrade to Operations Director v6.6 MP1 through LiveUpdate.
Step 6	Install the Management Server v6.6 MP1. Click the server.exe file that is available in the DCS: Server Advanced v6.6 MP1 disc.		Install the Management Server v6.6 MP1. Click the server.exe file that is available on the DCS: Server Advanced v6.6 MP1 disk.
Step 7	Register the Management Server v6.6 MP1 with the UMC v6.6 MP1.		Register the Management Server v6.6 MP1 with the UMC v6.6 MP1.
Step 8	Install the Java Console. Click the console.exe file that is available in the DCS: Server Advanced v6.6 MP1 disc.		Install the Java Console. Click the console.exe file that is available on the DCS: Server Advanced v6.6 MP1 disk.
Step 9	Install and configure the DCS: Server Advanced agents.		Install and configure the DCS: Server Advanced agents.
Step 10	Deploy and configure DCS Security Virtual Appliance.		Deploy and configure DCS Security Virtual Appliance.
