Resolution

This cumulative point fix contains fixes provided to customers Patch Management post 7.6 HF7.

This Patch Management Cumulative 7.6 HF7 provides the following Point Fixes:

  • PMImport Replication runs and Software Update Policies lose package associations - TECH234233
  • PM 7.6 - 'Unable to generate policy XML' is still being seen on Child systems.

  • Reports showing patch severity show double rows with translated and English strings

  • Made changes to the Vendor Listing on the PMImport and it now fails when the Delete option is enabled

  • Software Update policy ProgramItems get created with startWindow=Normal." - TECH246575

  • Software Update Policy created successfully but with partially downloaded Software Bulletins 

  • For Office 365 support the SMP Rollup v5 or newer also needs to be installed as outlined in INFO4200

IMPORTANT:

  • Before implementing the pointfix rollup, please make a full backup of 'Symantec_CMDB' database instance in the SQL Database Server and also a backup of the SMP Server.
  • Before installing the Patch Management Rollup, please install the latest SMA/SMF/SMP Pointfix
  • Caution: For Hierarchy environments; this PointFix requires additional PointFix 7.6_HF7_v6_4130581 provided on TECH248422

Work through the following steps to implement this Pointfix:

HOW TO INSTALL THIS POINTFIX

  1. Close all browsers before installing the PointFix.
  2. Extract files to the SMP Server hard drive. Ensure the PointFix package is not extracted to Altiris install directory (or any subfolder to it).
  3. Execute PFInstaller.exe with administrative privileges (right-click > Run as administrator). 
  4. Select "Install Files" and accept UAC (User Account Control) prompt. Note: Old binaries will be automatically archived in the 'Backup' folder in the same location as the PFInstaller as the new binaries are installed. May review the log.txt in the same location if needed during install.
  5. Close PFInstaller window.

HOW TO UNINSTALL POINTFIX

  1. Confirm the 'Backup' subfolder is located in PFInstaller directory.
  2. Execute PFInstaller.exe with administrative privileges (right-click > Run as administrator). 
  3. Select "Uninstall Files" and Accept UAC (User Account Control) prompt. Note: Old binaries will be restored from 'Backup' folder located with the PFinstaller.
  4. Close PFInstaller window.
