Issue/Introduction

Does the Symantec Management Platform support IPv6 implementations, and if the major Solutions do it as well?

Environment

ITMS 7.5, 7.6, 8.0, 8.1, 8.5, 8.6

Resolution

In general, if you are planning to implement a pure IPv6 environment, currently pure IPv6 is not supported and majority of the functionality will require IPv4 to work.
In order to properly function as far as the majority of the Solutions and the SMP and its clients themselves will need to use IPv4 also together with IPv6.

There are no plans to add pure IPv6 support in the nearest future. So at this point we will continue using a mix of IPv6 and IPv4.

ITMS 8.5 and later - Symantec Management Agent/SMP Server reports IPv6 info from clients, but still heavily relies on IPv4 for all the
communications. Fully disabling IPv4 will certainly seize functionality of ITMS.
