Currently, Symantec Encryption Management Server runs on a 32-bit version of CentOS. There are known limitations to 32-bit operating systems, such as the limitation of how much memory can be allocated to a system, as well as how large hard drives can be, in addition to not having full 64-bit CPU compatibility. Having 64-bit would allow more resources to be allocated to a server that would benefit very large databases and busy Symantec Encrypt on Management Servers.
A Feature Request has been submitted to release a 64-bit version of Symantec Encryption Management Server.
Symantec Corporation is committed to product quality and satisfied customers. Technical Support filed a Feature Request to add the functionality listed above. This Feature Request is currently being considered by Symantec Corporation to be addressed in a forthcoming version of the product.
There is no guaranteed date for this request from the Encryption Product Management team, or the Encryption Engineering team at this time. Please be sure to refer back to this article periodically as any changes to the status of the request will be reflected here.
