Issue/Introduction

This article clarifies the character constraints for the Description field within the Discovery and Audit tool interface.

Environment

Identity Governance 14.5

Cause

The field length is restricted to 255 characters due to underlying database schema definitions. Values exceeding this limit are automatically truncated by the system.

Resolution

The character limit for the Description field is 255 characters. To modify a description:

1. Access the relevant Resource Database (RDB).
2. Right-click the Description field.
3. Select Edit Resource.
4. Double-click the Description area and enter the desired text.
5. Ensure the input does not exceed 255 characters to avoid data truncation.

Note: Any text entered beyond the 255-character limit will be truncated upon saving the resource.
