Data Repository Vertica DB is slow to start

Issue/Introduction

I would like to understand what the Vertica DB is slow to start when you start it up again after you've properly shutdown the vertica db.  In my case, it was shut down for Linux patching, system rebooted, then I go back in to start it again. 

 

It will eventually start but it seems to take a long time.

Resolution

Vertica needs to read in a lot of data even when the database is properly shut down. Start times of 5-10 minutes are common.  The log below shows how much time it is taking in each phase of start up.
