Is the DD ARCHIVER only used to the input to a restore to allocate the input? Is this the ONLY time that DD is used?
The ARCHIVER DD name is used if an archive volume on 3480 needs to be opened for INPUT.
For example for the following functions:

RECOVER
RESTORE
XCOPY
Note: Depending on whether the archive is on DASD or TAPE or 3480 or DYNnUNIT, the DD name might vary.
