Issue/Introduction

You are unable to deploy any probe to a robot due to a communication error.

errors may include:

  •  inst_pkg failed: communication error
  • Communication error (1)

 

Environment

DX UIM - Any Version

Cause

This error is usually seen if the needed ports are not open bidirectionally and/or if there is a firewall blocking communication.

Bidirectionally means:

  •  the hub must be able to initiate a connection to the robot, and the robot must be able to respond over that established connection
  • The robot must also be able to initiate a connection to its hub, and the hub must be able to respond over that established connection

Resolution

Open ports bi-directionally and ensure no firewall blocking communication.
