Issue/Introduction

Unable to startup "IIS Web Server VB Script Service" windows service


Steps taken to register the "IIS Web Server VB Script Service" service:

Assumption, IA location = D:\Program Files\IA\107SP3\apmia

1.Updated extensions\Webserver-monitor\IIS\VBScript.bat 

2.Executed:
RegisterVBScriptService.bat

3.Reviewed VBScript.log
WinService:02/13/20(05:49:46):1004:13224:00000 [INFO] Installing the VB script as a service with the name "IIS Web Server VB Script Service"
WinService:02/13/20(05:49:46):1004:13224:00001 [INFO] Service Description updated
WinService:02/13/20(05:49:46):1004:13224:00002 [INFO] IIS Web Server VB Script Service is installed

4.Started the service:

Environment

Introscope 10.7.x

Cause

Defect # DE448125

This defect only affect Infrastructure Agent installations that are located in folders that include spaces.

Resolution

Workarounds:

1) Move the IA agent to a location that do not include spaces

2. Manually updating the registry and enclose the path to the executable with quotes("):

a) Run regedit
b) Expand : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\IIS Web Server VB Script Service
c) Enclose "ImagePath" value between quotes, as below for example:



You should now be able to start the "IIS Web Server VB Script Service" service
