Using multiple copies of CA SMR

Can CA SMR have multiple started tasks executing on the same system? I receive the following error message: SMR003I - SMR ALREADY ACTIVE ON THIS SYSTEM

In the CA SMR Getting Started Guide section titled "Using Multiple Copies of CA-SMR" it is documented that this is possible.

Environment

Release: ESBSMR99000-3.4-Extended Support Basic-for CA SMR
Component:

Resolution

In the CA SMR Getting Started Guide section titled "Using Multiple Copies of CA-SMR" it is fully documented that you can start multiple copies of CA SMR on the same LPAR.

In reality, this is not possible. The documentation is in error.

The CA SMR product will spool the SYSLOG and once spooled it is gone and no longer available to another CA SMR subsystem. This is why you receive the error message, no additional CA SMR system can execute properly.

We apologize for this error in the documentation.

The error message you should see when you start a second CA SMR started task is:

SMR003I - SMR ALREADY ACTIVE ON THIS SYSTEM
