ERROR: HTTP 500 internal Server Error Login Issues with OM Web Viewer 12.1

Issue/Introduction

Users are unable to login to web viewer from the internet browser. The user gets HTTP 500 internal Server Error. 

These error messages were found in the Logs:
EntityManager indicates database

legalStateException: Attempting to execute an operation on a closed EntityManagerFactory.javax.faces.FacesException: #{loginBean.log
 inAction}: javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Attempting to execute an operation on a closed EntityManagerFactory.

In wvtrace.log There were database errors

[WebSphere WLM Dispatch Thread] com.ca.erm.webviewer.control.AdminPrefDetailBean: getPrefList - Database Query(selectPreferences) fails. Attempting to execute an operation on a closed EntityManagerFactory.

• IBM WebSphere Application Server

Resolution

IBM WebSphere Application Server lost connection with the database
