Action Tracing is needed to troubleshoot certain type of issues, usually it's requested by Support. It will save the sql trace, queries, statements and results(optional) to an xml file.
Currently there is an easy way to enable it from Clarity UI.
Release : 15.x and higher
Component : All components
To enable Action tracing:
Connect to Clarity - Administration - Resources - browse for the resource you're connecting with
Open the resource, in the properties change the value for Action Tracing to Trace Statements (or Trace Statements with Results only if instructed by Broadcom Support)
Log Off, Log back in and reproduce the issue
Retrieve from $clarity/logs, and provide the app-trace.xml and any backup files app-trace.xml.1, app-trace.xml.2, app-trace.xml.3 etc for review
You don't have to disable the trace, it will disable automatically after 5 days, or you can go back and set to Trace Off.
If you don't have access to the server $clarity/logs location, correct your system URL go to: http://<servername:port>/niku/nu#action:security.logs You will be able to browse for app-trace.xml, app-trace.xml.1, app-trace.xml.2, app-trace.xml.3, increase the size to 10m and then display. Once you display, you can click on Download to retrieve the files and you will get them in a ZIP format. Provide them to Broadcom Support for review
