VAIM Windows templates cannot be applied due to incorrect OSType.

Issue/Introduction

 

We have a lot of servers that are not showing / associating the appropriate template with the OS. 

 

For example; We are trying to push out a template to a Windows Server that has had SysEDGE installed (using Windows policy).

 

When we select a list of templates; all I see is Unix related profiles and none of the Windows related profiles that I would expect to see.

Release : 12.9

Component : Virtual Assurance for IM 

Cause

• During initial discovery of Windows systems Network Discovery is not classifying OSType correctly.

Resolution

• Under C:\ProgramData\CA\SM\domainserver\User Defined Profiles\SystemEDGE\Templates directory copy *.windows.prof files and rename to *.generic.prof and restart CA SM Domain Server service.
• This will then show the templates under OS Independent and no OS filtering will be done when the template is applied.

OR

• Rediscover the Servers that don't have OSType defined during initial discovery as rediscovery will often update to correct platform.
