Unable to delete online agents from ASAP tool

Issue/Introduction

We are trying to delete agents which are not used any more, but we are unable to do so. When deleting the agents from Automation Studio, administration -> agent management, the agent gets removed. But after a short time the agent gets readded.

Component : CA RELEASE AUTOMATION RELEASE OPERATIONS CENTER

Cause

Removing the agents from Automation Studio removes the agent from the DB. However, it does not stop the agent or remove the agent from the NES that is actively managing it. So when an online agent is removed from Automation Studio it will eventually reappear since it is still being actively managed by its NES. 

Resolution

Stop the agent. Then remove the agent from Automation Studio.
