Are there any recommendations on special characters that should NOT be allowed in user ID?

Resolution

There aren't any known restrictions on using special characters in usernames. 

NOTE: Be mindful of using unwise characters in your usernames and passwords. Some of our XPath/XML assertions will have issues interpreting them properly.
