Issue/Introduction

What is the STC FACILITY? What is it used for?

Documentation states the TSS ADMIN keywords MISC9(STC) or MISC8(LISTSTC) allows you administer to the STC started task acid but doesnt reference the FACILITY STC.

Resolution

STC is a predefined FACILITY just like CICSPROD, CICSTEST, IMSPROD, IMSTEST, BATCH etc….

STC is used for started tasks that are not multi user address spaces like CICS.

The STC facility should only be given to started task region acid and not regular users.

The TSS admin MISC9 and MISC8 keywords allows you to update and list the CA Top Secret started task table only. It doesn't control the ability to administer FACIIIYs.

The TSS started task table allows you to assign an acid to a started task proc when it initializes.

Example TSS ADD(STC) PROCN(ABCD) ACID(JOE). This command signs on JOE acid when the ABCD started task is started.

TSS ADMIN keyword FACILITY gives administrative privileges to administers FACILITYs.
