Issue/Introduction

OPS/MVS data sets were somehow converted from pds to pdse.   Will this be okay?

Cause

In this case, it was unknown how the data sets were converted

Resolution

PDSE format is not encouraged for RULE datasets. There are no previous reports of problems regarding REXX data sets in PDSE format, so they are okay.

Be aware that all data sets in the SYSEXEC concatenation need to have consistent record formats and logical record lengths per IBM documentation. It is Broadcom's recommendation that both of these types of data sets be in PDS format.

Additional Information

PDSE, if absolutely required, can be used - see Broadcom Knowledge Document 95381,  but due to the large number of IBM generated fixes and problems with PDSE data sets, we do not encourage their use.
