The Go search option in SDM shows 'Retired' Knowledge Documents when you do you're 1st search. After you perform the 1st initial search, all following searches will be only 'Published'. We did a work around, by removing the Knowledge from the GO drop down list. This problem appears to happen primarily in Internet Explorer.

This problem is resolved in the latest patch, which currently is 17.1 Rollup 6.
There doesn't appear to be a specific "defect" record for this problem to reference, it's likely resolved as a result of another fix.
