Issue/Introduction

While running the dmsmgr command we notice that the name we used to register is not the name seen in the registration.

dmsmgr -config - endpoint -dhname  [email protected] converts to YYYYY.com

Environment

Release : 14.1

Component : PAM SERVER CONTROL ENDPOINT WINDOWS

Cause

This is because the registration will reverse lookup the hostname. This is a mechanism to ensure uniqueness as well as validate that host can be resolved. If you try utilizing an alias this may cause some confusion.

Resolution

If you have a business need to configure this specifically with an alias you may want to request an enhancement but you should consider possible communication issue that may occur.
