How is 4.8 FDM enabled to mask using the PLA but with no access to the TDM portal?

Issue/Introduction

Just installed FDM 4.8.126 on  a new server inside the DMZ environment and it is blocked for security reasons from connecting to the TDM portal which is outside the DMZ.

 

How is FDM enabled to mask using  the PLA but no access to the TDM portal?

 

 

Cause

 The telemetry warning message you get with the newer versions of FDM.   FDM will try to connect to the portal when launched and you see an information message if FDM can’t connect to portal this will not stop FDM working but you have to accept the warning.

Component : CA Test Data Manager

Resolution

Set the Environment Variable to disable the portal Connection as shown in the FDM GUI. 

Set the TDM_PORTAL_URL variable to N.
