Clarity PPM: Handshake Error when opening OWB from Clarity

Issue/Introduction

Open Workbench (OWB) does not start or open.

The is a "handshake" error when trying to open a project from Clarity in OWB.

A server error occurred during login: - received fatal alert: Handshake_failure

Environment

Release : All Supported Release

Component : 105PM SAAS OPEN WORKBENCH (OWB)

Resolution

Steps to Check:

1. Download the certificate from the URL provided in the maintenance notification:

https://ciphers-test.ondemand.ca.com

The following page should appear stating that the SSL Ciphers Test Passed


A new certificate may need to be added to the workstation.

2. Check the local environment variable and edit it to be:

JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS = -Dhttps.protocols=TLSv1.2

3. The SaaS environment no longer supports TLS  1.0 and 1.1. Only TLS 1.2 is now supported.

4. Uninstall current version of OWB and Schedule Connect and then download the latest OWB version from Account Settings > Software Downloads
Install both OWB and Schedule Connect.
