Issue/Introduction

When experiencing performance issues in Catalog, JvisualVM is helpful to monitor the java process





Environment

Release : 17.1

Component : CA SERVICE CATALOG

Resolution

1. Download JvisualVM from: https://visualvm.github.io/

2. Uncompress the .zip file in the Catalog server or any server which can connect to Catalog Server.

3. Go to Catalog server\view\conf\viewService.conf > uncomment the three lines for remote JMX Monitor. Example:

wrapper.java.additional.24=-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=19091
wrapper.java.additional.25=-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false
wrapper.java.additional.26=-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false

4. Save changes and restart Catalog services.

5. Launch JvisualVM from bin\visualvm.exe Example: visualvm_144\visualvm_144\bin\visualvm.exe

6. File > Add JMX Connection > Connection: hostname_of_catalog_server:port_set_for_remote_JMX

Example: hostname:19091

7. Double-click on the connection
