How to access ApplyPTF and Cazipxp from the Cumulative and Rollup Patches

Issue/Introduction

On occasion, a given user may need to access ApplyPTF and cazipxp on a given server.  While there are articles present that discuss how to download the components, if one has installed one of the Rollup patches for CA Service Management, there is a method to acquire these items for specific patch installation requirements. 

Environment

CA Service Management 17.x and higher (cumulative update or roll up patches)

Resolution

If you have downloaded a given roll-up patch and decompressed the roll-up zip file, you may then access the directory structure of the rollup patch and locate the filestore\utils directory, where ApplyPTF and cazipxp is stored.

Example:  you have downloaded the CA Service Management 17.2 RU3 patch.  In the directory structure of the patch download, access filestore\utils:

Navigate across to utils directory and you will find a local copy of ApplyPTF and cazipxp.

 

In some cases, the same content can be obtained for the cumulative installer.  For instance, download and mount ISO file DVD0000000000602.iso, which is CA SDM 17.2 for Windows (with Catalog) , you can then access such content by navigating as described above:

Additional Information

Note:  Do not modify the directory structure of the given install directory.  It should be safe to copy the directories themselves to your local drives.

We also do not advise running ApplyPTF or cazipxp directly from the cumulative or Rollup directories.  Please copy them to a local drive for execution.
