Issue/Introduction

System A and system B share the security file. After performing an IPL on both systems A and B, The TSS MODIFY STATUS displays on both systems show:

Recovery File(000%)

From system A, a command which modifies the security file (ie TSS REPLACE(acid) PASS(xxxx) is performed, so it is written in the recovery file.

The STATUS output for system A shows: Recovery File(060%), whereas on system B it still shows Recovery File(000%).

Then from system B, a command which modifies the security file is performed, so it is written in the recovery file (e.g. a replace password).

The STATUS displays for both systems a Recovery File(060%)

- Why Does Message TSS9661I Report For Recovery File a Value Of Recovery File(000%) before a command to modify the security file is issued?

- Why is there such discrepancy between systems?

Resolution

After an IPL, the value for the recovery file will be reset to 0%, temporarily, until 1 record (TSS command, password change, etc) gets written to the recovery file. At that point, Top Secret calculates what % of the recovery file is full, and updates the RECFILE % value accordingly.
