Issue/Introduction

What is the metric:

SuperDomain|Custom Metric Host (Virtual)|Custom Metric Process (Virtual)|Custom Metric Agent (Virtual)|Enterprise Manager|Assisted Triage|Event Generator|Alert:Raw Alert States Received Per Interval.

Why would this metric spike when there is a performance issue with the MOM?

Environment

Release : 10.x

Component : APM Introscope

Resolution

This supportability metric is just as its name says: # of incoming alert state change per interval.

The counter is increased each time the AppMap ontology engine started to process an incoming alert state change.

This is likely to be a symptom of performance issues with the MOM rather than a cause.

It can spike when the MOM is slow because the queue containing the alert state changes accumulates when the MOM is not able to keep up with processing. So, the MOM would have to process a lot of status changes in one period whenever it gets the chance.
