Issue/Introduction

On a DCI Agent joblog there are several messages like:
DCI1031I: HMC CHANGE REQUEST TIMEOUT

Which are the possible causes?

Environment

Release : 2.0

Component : CA DYNAMIC CAPACITY INTELLIGENCE

Resolution

The timeout message is only issued if it looks like the LPAR is active by checking if there is a current pulse entry for that particular LPAR, and over 45 seconds has elapsed since the change request was issued.

There could be a number of problems causing this, could be an HMC timing issue, or it could be a TCP/IP issue, or the LPAR could have gone down after the pulse, or the agent failed after the pulse or even the LPAR the controller is running on is having issues.
