Issue/Introduction

How does nas buffer alarms when it replicates them between hubs?

Environment

  • Component: UIMNAS

Resolution

When replication is configured, the nas probe mantains some files in the directory:  ...\Nimsoft\probes\service\nas\replication

The file ending in ".db" is a buffer of alarm messages being sent to another nas instance.
The file ending in ".import" is a buffer of alarm messages being received from another nas instance.

The size of these files is prone to increase and also prone to stay high even if all is operating optimally and there is no apparent alarm back-up. This implementation of SQLite does not include the auto-vacuum option, so these files will stay their largest size indefinitely. They may or may not contain messages in spite of their size.

Altering or deleting these files can result in data loss or unexpected behavior.  If alterations need to be made, use the portion of the nas probe UI that deals with replication.
