Issue/Introduction

Is there anything special that needs to be done to discover devices using IPv6 or just put the IPv6 address in the IP address field within the discovery console?

Environment

Release : 22.2.x/23.3.x

Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Resolution

  • IPv6 usage within Spectrum is largely handled by the Operating System.
  • The Spectrum Server interface(s) need to be configured to use IPv6 and IPv6 needs to be routable within the network.

The discovery limitations when discovering devices using IPv6 are as follows:

  • For IPv6, the boundary list accepts single addresses and hostnames. IPv6 ranges are not valid input. Also, wildcards cannot be applied to IPv6 addresses.
  • If an IPv6 address is entered into the first IP address field, the second IP address field is automatically disabled. In this case, you cannot enter an IPv6 range.
