Issue/Introduction

An issue has been identified where heavily utilized CA Identity Manager provisioning servers (imps.exe) appear to crash without logging any specific errors being logged.

Environment

Release : 14.3

Component : IdentityMinder(Identity Manager)

Identified on

14.3 GA On-Premise Production Environment

Wildlfy 8.2.1 hosted on Windows Server 2012 R2 with an Oracle 12.1 back-end database

CA Directory 14 (embedded with Identity Manager 14.3)

Identity portal and Identity Manager in cluster (2 nodes each); we have also 2 PS (standard fail-over configuration)

Resolution

The issue should resolve by turning off "TransactionProtection".

"TransactionProtection" is a feature that was introduced in 14.1 and has been shown to cause some performance issues in heavily utilized systems. When enabled each transaction goes through a hand-shaking process. Turning it off can reduce the system overhead.

To turn it off:

1. Logon to CA IM Management Console
2. Navigate to : Environment > Advanced Settings > Miscellaneous >
3. Add Property "transactionprotection" EQUAL to "False"
4. Reboot the server
