Issue/Introduction

Traps received by Spectrum from IP addresses that are shared between devices but from non-management addresses are processed on all models that share the ip address.

The following instructions lets the user configure which models they do not want the trap processed on.

Environment

Release : Any
Component : Spectrum Alarms/Event

Resolution

Spectrum 10.2.3 introduced the UseRPAForTrapProcessing attribute id 0x13369. The value of this attribute tells Spectrum whether or not to use the ip addresses in the "Redundancy Excluded Addresses" list for trap processing.

Use the following instructions to configure this functionality:

  • Log into OneClick
  • Find and select the model to exclude the the ip address for trap processing
  • Click on the Information tab
  • Find and expand the IP Redundancy subview
  • Click on the "Configure preferred and Excluded Addresses" button
  • In the "Redundancy Preferred Addresses" column, highlight the ip address to exclude from trap processing and move it to the "Redundancy Excluded Addresses" column. Since this is a shared ip address, it may already be in the "Redundancy Excluded Addresses" column.
  • Click the OK button to save the change
  • Set the value of the "Use Redundancy Preferred Address List For Trap Processing" to Yes. The default value is No.

  • As part of this functionality, non-global (link-local, site-local, and so on) IPv6 attributes are also excluded from trap processing.
