Unable to send activation email for Developers Portal

Issue/Introduction

We set up our Developers Portal but the onboarding process, that includes an activation email to be sent, remains impossible. As we need the tool to use user and password to login into the proxy server.

Cause

Failure sending SAML email though SMTP relay

 

Oct 29 16:52:20 <server1> postfix/smtp[23049]:

200232404D: to=<NAME@domainName>,

dsn=4.7.0, status=deferred (SASL authentication failed; cannot authenticate to

server 10.0.0.0[10.0.0.0]: no mechanism available)

Resolution

Depends on RPM version or Appliance

RPM version of the portal, they may need to install sasl dependencies using 'sudo yum install cyrus-sasl cyrus-sasl-lib cyrus-sasl-plain -y'.

Appliance
We discovered that the appliance is missing a required package.
# cyrus-sasl-plain-2.1.23-15.el6_6.2.x86_64.rpm is attached.

To install:
Upload to the rpm to the VM
# rpm -Uvh cyrus-sasl-plain-2.1.23-15.el6_6.2.x86_64.rpm

# sudo service postfix flush
