Issue/Introduction

Interface names in Spectrum are only ifIndex with an underscore in front and do not contain the associated device model name.

Interfaces Tab of the device in question

May also be noticed in alarms generated for the interfaces

Environment

Release : Any Spectrum version

Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Cause

The name of the interfaces are determined by adding the device model name and _instanceid (instance id can be ifname or ifindex).

In the faulty scenario, the device model_name is not updated yet and the interface model tries to read the device name. Due to this the device name is empty and the interface name is shown as only _ifindex.

Resolution

This is resolved in DX NetOps Spectrum release 20.2.3.  You will still need to reconfigure any devices that had this issue prior to upgrade. After upgrading you will not see any NEW issues occur.

Reconfigure the device model by right mouse clicking on the model and selecting Reconfiguration -> Reconfigure Model from the menu.
