Vantage Storage Resource Manager

Issue/Introduction

Hi Support,

We see excessive SVC 99 errors in Vantage started task (SAMS). I might be wrong, but looks like not all storage pools are defined in the parmlib.

Environment

Release : 14.0

Component : CA Vantage Storage Resource Manager

Cause

The volumes (and related storage groups) that Vantage is attempting to access are not available to the system where Vantage is running.  Vantage generates the SVC 99 dynamic allocation error when attempting to allocate a temporary data set to one of these inaccessible volumes.

Resolution

The INCLEXCL Vantage parmlib member is needed and should define filters to exclude volumes that the various Vantage components try to access via the Vantage DTOC scan.  Here is a sample of the components to modify with example filters:

START-EXCLUDE-VOL    Online Volumes

EXCL=PBS/

EXCL=PNG/

..

START-DTOCVEXC-VOL    DTOC Volumes

EXCL=PBS/

EXCL=PNG/

..

START-DUPEDSNS-VOL    Duplicate Data Sets (Volumes Checked)

EXCL=PBS/

EXCL=PNG/

..

START-VSAMVVDS-VOL    VSAM Data Set Attributes (Volumes Checked)

EXCL=PBS/

EXCL=PNG/

Additional Information

Here is some documentation describing the INCLEXCL Vantage parmlib member (see section 'INCLEXCL - Local PARMLIB Member'):
