Issue/Introduction

How to avoid the browser to automatically open a .txt file from opening and download it in Service Desk Manager

Environment

Release : 17.1

Component : SERVICE DESK MANAGER

Resolution

To download the .txt file instead of automatically open it, you need to perform the following steps:

a. Make a copy of the web.xml file from $NX_ROOT\bopcfg\www\CATALINA_BASE\webapps\CAisd\WEB-INF to a local directory for backup purposes.

b. Edit the web.xml file from $NX_ROOT\bopcfg\www\CATALINA_BASE\webapps\CAisd\WEB-INF.

c. Find the following line under the 'save_as_dialog_ext' parameter settings:

mp3,eml,doc,zip,gz,tar,xls,rtf,ppt,pps,msg,jpeg,jpg,png

d. Add the txt extension(or any other extension you wish to have) to the list of values:

mp3,eml,doc,zip,gz,tar,xls,rtf,ppt,pps,msg,jpeg,jpg,png,txt

e. Save the web.xml file and restart services.
