How to discover interface items and collect interface metric data in Performance Management

Issue/Introduction

A discovered device has interfaces that need to be monitored for reporting. How can they be discovered and the metric data polled?

Environment

All supported Performance Management releases

Cause

Discovered devices don't show interfaces or their metric data.

Resolution

Select a sample device to start this process. More devices can have the solution applied after confirming it works for a test device.

1. Create a Monitoring Profile for the Interface Metric Family or use the default Network Interface Monitoring Profile.
2. Create a Collection and add the target device to the Collection as a member.
3. Associate the Monitoring Profile to the Collection
