Issue/Introduction

The client needs to migrate off of View 11.6 to a currently-supported version.

Two PTFs were downloaded, RO60084 and RO63821.  To where should these fixes be loaded?

If the View database name does not change, is there any need to update any SARDBASE REORG ASYNCH jobs?

Is there a way to determine how many users are actually using CA View?

Environment

Release : 12.2

Component : CA View

Resolution

If there is the need to revert (fall back) from View 12.1 to 11.6, PTF RO28310 should be on the 11.6 environment, so that tapes created by 12.1 can be read in 11.6.

This PTF can be placed in an 11.6 environment at any time.

PTF RO60084 is needed so that the SARDBP program does not abend when adding a sysout to a large database.

This PTF can be placed in an 11.6 environment at any time.

PTF RO63821 provides the ability to have a SARDBASE VERSION 11.6, to revert to the 11.6-level database, from a higher release of View.

This PTF could be on the environment now.

To summarize, RO28310 and RO63821 address elements, if needing to fall back to 11.6; RO60084 is a fix for a problem in the product.

If a View database name does not change, there is no need to change any SARDBASE REORG jobs in the new release, except if there will be a //STEPLIB used in the job.

SARBCH /LIST USER=* can be used to list all of the users defined to a View database.

In a running SARXMS task, you can issue command:

/F sarxms,LIST USERS[,ALL|,ACTIVE|,INACTIVE]

to display the staus of ALL, ACTIVE, or INACTIVE users, respectively.
