After upgrading from one release of the Database Management for Db2 for z/OS suite to a new release, there may be objects
that are no longer used in the new release.
This document provides detailed instructions to identify obsolete objects (tablespaces, tables, indexes, etc) in
the Database Management for Db2 for z/OS default database PTDB.
Database Management for Db2 for z/OS feature PTF LU10079 has been published to provide
Post Install Db2 catalog customization tasks to complete the requirement of identifying obsolete objects:
The Database Management Solutions for Db2 for z/OS post-install tailoring
process has been enhanced with new tasks to help you remove deprecated
PTDB objects from the Db2 catalog.
The following new tasks are introduced under Post Install tailoring
option 3 Tasks - Execute Db2 catalog customization tasks:
1. Report on Obsolete PTDB Objects (task ID 0005) - Provides a list
of objects to be deleted and list of unrecognized and dependent
objects. Generates control statements that are required input
for tasks 0006 and 0007.
2. Stop Obsolete PTDB Objects (task ID 0006) - Stops objects identified in task 0005.
3. Drop Obsolete PTDB Objects (task ID 0007) - Drops objects identified in task 0005.
