Issue/Introduction

What are the security requirements for the VANWEBUI and OMVS segment?

Environment

Vantage

Resolution

The Vantage Web Client (Vantage Storage Point) is a Tomcat server and connected by IP to the Vantage STC on any Vantage hosts that are accessible.

One Vantage Web Client can access several LPARs if they are shared.

The Tomcat needs READ/WRITE access to the 'runtime' and the 'Webclientdb' directories.

The reason for this access is that Vantage can create dashboards which are saved into the webclientdb, and the Tomcat logs are written into the 'runtime' directory.

Regarding the MVS data set access, none of Vantage is required for the Web Client.

In summary, the VANWEBUI STC needs data set READ access for its DDname STDENV library.  On the OMVS side, it needs READ and WRITE access for the 'runtime' and 'webclientdb' folders .
