Rally - CA Agile Central tab for the Excel Add-in is missing in Excel

Issue/Introduction

When opening up Microsoft Office Excel to utilize the Import/Export function for CA Agile Central the tab to connect to Agile Central is missing.  The image here shows it to be intact as it should be.

 

How can the tab for the CA Agile Central Excel Add-in be restored to Excel?

Resolution

Steps to restore the plugin tab:

1) Open Excel and click File > Options;

2) From the Excel Options pane select Add-ins;

3) From the Add-ins pane select Com Add-ins;

4) From the COM Addin-ins available pane check the box next to CA Agile Central Add-in for Excel and click OK;

NOTE:  Should the problem persist upon opening Excel subsequent to re-selecting the Add-in it may be necessary to un-install and re-install the Excel Add-in.  The user will need to have administrator permissions on the PC in order to re-install.  If necessary a fresh copy of the plugin is available from the following link.

Alternatively;

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Excel Options.
  2. Click Add-Ins.
  3. Under Manage, click COM-Add ins, and then click Go .

Ensure that the CA Agile Central Excel Add-In is marked under "Active Application Add-ins" rather than "Inactive Application Add-ins";

 

  1. Under Manage > COM Add-ins > Go button, fill in the checkbox for CA Agile Central Excel Add-in.
  2. Press OK in the Add-ins dialog, as well as the Excel Options window.
